Where do I start with the ceremony? The dapper grooms were all spruce in matching suits and tails, and their cute little dog was the ring bearer with the ring pouch in his mouth and a gorge matching pink and blue bowtie! When they exchanged their vows, softie Angie here had a little tear in her eye! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such lurrrved up newlyweds!

Well I had no idea what a party this was shaping up to be! The first dance was a Latino Dirty Dancing spectacular! The grooms performed such a spicy Argentine Tango first dance the wedding guests couldn’t wait to get started themselves! Even Mr. Angie, who’s never usually the first on the dance floor, was boogieing all night next to me.

It was like the best girls’ night out, all the Club classics were on, and yes, the Macarena too! The Latino groom then took centre stage with his dance troupe to perform traditional Latino folk dances, with costumes and all! This wedding was by far the most booty-shaking bonanza I’d ever been to! I’d been twirled around and Salsa spun so many times that night I didn’t need to be a gym bunny for at least a week after that!

Angie was partied out enough for 3 weddings after that! Have you got any exceptionally fab wedding stories? Send them in! We want to hear them!

To celebrate the launch of our fabulous new Blockbusters Bingo game, we asked you what your favourite TV catchphrases were and look what we’ve found…..you all love Blockbusters just as much as I do!

It may have been a tongue in cheek request, but “Can I have a P please Bob” has been voted the favourite catchphrase of our Meccabingo.com customers. 23% of you voted it your favourite with “look at what you could have won” from Jim Bowen and “say what you see” from Roy Walker coming in joint second with 16% of the votes. Anne Robinson’s infamous “you ARE the weakest link” proved not so weak by coming in fourth with 14% of the votes.

While Bob Holness’ catchphrase may be king, when it comes to favourite game show hosts, Noel Edmonds is at the head of the pack, polling 30% of your votes. It’s the shirts isn’t it? Go on, you can admit it!

Bruce Forsyth foxtrots into second place with 22% and Jim Bowen just misses the bull’s-eye with 13% of votes. Bob Holness is in joint fourth place with Vic ‘n’ Bob who proved not to be such shooting stars, polling 9% of the votes.

In a nod to nostalgia, we also asked which 80s game show would you like to see back on TV in the original format. Proving that re-makes aren’t always better, 44% of you called for the return of Blockbusters, while 25% wanted 3-2-1 and Dusty Bin back on the screens. Other popular shows included Give Us a Clue with 15% of the votes and Sale of the Century with 14%. It seems that Every Second Doesn’t Count as the game show polled just 2% of the votes.

So it looks like everyone remembers and loves the tongue in cheek questions from the original Blockbusters and that’s why we knew you would love our very own Blockbusters Bingo game. The programme was cult viewing back in the 80s and we all love a bit of the 80s don’t we?!

If you haven’t played Blockbusters Bingo, then where have you been! Just like the TV version, the game features that famous honeycomb grid and uses letters instead of numbers.

It’s a 26 ball bingo game, so it’s fast and furious with two prizes up for grabs in every session and games starting every 2 minutes throughout the day. Each ticket contains 20 letters and the aim of the game is to complete a column or line. It’s possible to win both the line and column on the same call!

There’s also a £5,000 community jackpot to be won when the letters B-I-N-G-O come out in the first five letters drawn in any game. When this happens all players will win a share of the jackpot based on the original amount they staked.

Bingo Dave and Meccabingo.com winner, Wendy Hill present £12,000 to Marie Curie volunteer Trevor Hall

As you know Marie Curie Cancer Care is Meccabingo.com’s official charity of the year, so we went all out during the month of May with our Marie Curie Bingo game, to help raise as much as we could.

Well…I’m really pleased to announce that with everyone’s help we raised a whopping £12,000!!!!! A big thank you to everyone who took part and donated.

To celebrate we selected one of the lucky Marie Curie Bingo winners, Wendy Hill from Sutton Coldfield, to attend an all expenses VIP night at our fabulous Mecca Oldbury and present the cheque to Marie Curie. So over to Wendy to tell you all about it……

“The promotion for Marie Curie was a really great idea as it enabled people to donate at the same time as playing bingo. It made me feel good knowing that whilst I was spending, I was contributing to a good cause as well.

“When my other half, Jon, told me that I’d been contacted by Mecca Bingo and my name had been drawn to represent them at a charity event, I was stunned. An all expenses paid night for four at Mecca Oldbury was a girl’s dream come true – I didn’t find out about the karaoke until later, which was just the icing on the cake!

“As we readied ourselves for an evening of bingo, outfits were selected carefully and knowing that our picture would be taken, a visit to the hairdressers was a must!

“After much preparation, we arrived at Mecca Oldbury – it’s very pink – where we were greeted by Bingo Dave and the team – I’d already looked up Bingo Dave on the website, so knew he was a handsome guy and he was! We were also introduced to Marie Curie volunteers, Trevor and Eileen Hall, before being shown to our table which was covered in balloons and bubbly.

“We had pictures taken with Trevor and Eileen before sitting down to play bingo with our electronic boards, Mecca Oldbury is so big – I was amazed. The Club has the usual bingo hall as well as a lounge area which was more relaxed. The latter area is where our table was located and enabled us to have a chat whilst we were playing. Oldbury had so many slot machines, the choice was amazing!

“The bingo soon came to an end with no main session winners on our table. Jon, however did win the interval game and Bingo Dave won a line in the late session, the winnings of which he donated to Marie Curie – so that’s £12,020 now raised!

“The evening was not over by any means, however, and we were soon given books and forms in order to select a song for the karaoke. We also got to play a karaoke version of bingo where I won an Ethch-a-Sketch of all things and some Mecca Bingo vouchers, which were promptly spent on Saturday at our local Kingstanding Club!

“The evening was great. We had such fun and all for a good cause. Once again, thank you to everybody involved.”

Thanks Wendy, it’s sounds like you had a fantastic time and I’m glad to see that even more money was raised for Marie Curie on the night. I think a trip to Mecca Oldbury is in order now!

Robert Pattinson or Brad Pitt? You decide…

It’s my favourite time of year again. Glamour magazine has revealed its list of the World’s Top 50 Sexiest Men! So just for you, I’ve taken on the gruelling task of reviewing the results!

Twilight star and our very own British actor, Robert Pattinson has topped this year’s list and it seems that the obsession with all things vampires has left our old favourites Brad Pitt, David Beckham and George Clooney out in the cold!

Heartthrob (and my personal favourite), Brad Pitt fell from 5th place this year to 33rd, along with George Clooney who fell from 7th to 35th. Whilst ‘tween’ star Justin Bieber (isn’t he like 12!) scooped 7th place and the rest of the Twilight cast and stars of TV series The Vampire Diaries, dominated the top 10.

Now is it just me, or has something gone wrong with this poll? Surely Brad Pitt should be higher up the list? Or has that horrid beard lost him your vote? What do you think? 24 year old Robert Pattinson or 47 year old Brad Pitt?

All I can say is at least Johnny Depp and Gerard Butler are both up there in the top 10!

The time has finally come to announce our two online Mecca’s Got Talent winners!

Over the past two months we’ve seen some brilliant acts from our online fans and the Mecca Clubs alike and it’s been a very tough decision for our independent judges. But I’m now please to announce that our two winners are – drum roll please – Cara Hawkins and Heather Hughes!

Well done ladies! Not only were your singing acts fabs, you received a huge amount of views and ‘likes’ on my Facebook and YouTube pages.

Cara and Heather will now go on to perform alongside the Mecca Bingo Club finalists at the Grand Finals, battling it out to win £3,000 cash and the chance to perform in front of thousands at a future live event.

The final takes place at Mecca Bilston on 4th September, where they’ll be joined by Lorraine Kelly who’ll be the host for the night.
